Aptitude Test

The IBEW Aptitude Test, also known as the NJATC Aptitude Test, is an entrance exam used by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) to assess candidates for their electrical apprenticeship programs. It evaluates fundamental math and reading comprehension skills, crucial for success in the electrical trade. The test consists of two sections: algebra and functions (math) and reading comprehension.

The aptitude test is developed and scored under the standards of the Electrical Training Alliance. Applicants are scored on a scale of 1-9. A score of four (4) or higher will qualify for a interview. If a score is below four (4), an applicant will need to wait 3 months and submit a new application with all the required information for re-testing. You cannot retest within the first 3 months after taking a test.

When an applicant submits their application, the application is assigned to the next testing date. Testing is conducted monthly. The sooner an application is submitted, the sooner the testing date will be scheduled. When a testing date is scheduled, the applicant will be notified by email and/or mail of the testing date.
