A Well Trained and Highly Skilled Workforce

The IBEW difference

IBEW Local 163 is proud of the Brothers and Sisters who make up our workforce, and their commitment to building and rebuilding Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our Local provides signatory contractors with the region’s best-trained workforce, thanks to the outstanding instructors at the Local 163 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). Our workforce consists of both journeymen and apprentices, in order to help train the next generation of electricians. The Local 163 JATC also provides journeyman electricians with opportunities to bolster their resume through upgrade training, allowing them to stay current on the latest industry trends and technologies. Another benefit of our strong commitment to training is a focus on safety. IBEW Local 163 electricians are strongly encouraged to go beyond minimum jobsite safety requirements. This includes opportunities to complete OSHA 30-hour safety training and other higher level safety-related courses required to work on certain projects. This combination of training helps ensure the IBEW Local 163 workforce is the best educated and safest in the industry; a group trusted by project owners, general contractors and subcontractors alike.
